Brent Mind offers one to one counselling for people
living in Brent. The service is currently provided by
fifteen volunteer counsellors. Brent Mind works within
the Ethical Framework of the British Association for
Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As a volunteer counsellor you will
receive support, training and supervision. In return
you will be expected to see three clients a week over
two years.
If you are a qualified counsellor
or a counsellor in training who has completed two years
training with relevant experience and are enrolled on
a Diploma Level Course, we would be pleased to hear
from you.

What is Counselling?
Counselling provides skilled listening
in a safe and confidential environment so as to enable
discussion of deep and sensitive issues which can emerge
over time in an atmosphere of trust.
The purpose of the counselling process
is to allow us to explore emotional difficulties in
a way that opens up opportunities for a more resourceful
and satisfying way of life.

How to apply for Counselling
Although Brent Mind is a charity, at
present our counselling service is chiefly funded through
the NHS. This means that anyone who wishes to apply
for counselling at Brent Mind will need to be referred
by their GP. If you are referred to Brent Mind you will
be sent information about our service together with
an application form. When we receive this you will be
offered a Counselling Assessment. The purpose of the
counselling assessment is to enable us to find out about
you and your needs and allow you to find out about us.
Following the assessment we will try
and find you a convenient appointment with a suitable
counsellor. When we have found you a counsellor you
will receive an invitation to your first counselling
appointment.

Becoming a Volunteer Counsellor
