Brent
Mind is running a Hearing Voices group, answering a
local need for of type of service which is gaining increasing
support from both traditional psychiatry and voice hearers
themselves. . Research has shown that groups are effective
in helping people cope with and manage their voice hearing.
Hearing voices Groups
are typically a number of people who share the experience
of hearing voices, coming together to help and support
each other. They can offer an opportunity:
- To talk freely about voices
- To feel accepted
- To be in a safe and non-judgemental atmosphere
- To share coping strategies, information and ideas
- To become less isolated and lonely
- No longer having to deny or keep quiet about the experience
- To feel supported
- Help people to decide to accept responsibility for their mental health.
The group
runs every other Tuesday 2.30pm till 3.30pm
